Overview:

Gungur, not a gungur tied at the waist to ensure the presence of a child, nor a gungur tied to the feet of a dancer. It is a river that flows along the Naighar-Tetabhumi border line. Its actual history is not certain. However, according to many, there was a sea in this place. Which extended to Mainamati across the eastern part of the then Tripura district. Launches, steamers, ships and other vessels used to sail in this sea. The river evolved over time. Transformation is like a ditch or a dead river. Then the reign of Ayub. The re-excavation of the river was done on the personal initiative of Captain A. Gani, the founder of the Bengal Regiment, the son of Brahmanpara. From then on, he regained his lost youth and took a new name 'Gungur Nadi'. He is full of youth in the rainy season, middle age in autumn and old age in winter and spring. This is his eternal form. Branches from different places have come and met with it. Different people have different opinions about its origin. However, in the south, it stopped at a place near Majhigacha or Gomti in its vicinity. And in the north, many fields have crossed the desert and met at Titus. Cultivation, settlement, etc. have been going on on both banks of Gungur for a long time.
